He Who is risen from the dead, Christ...

In
the Book of Psalms, the character of God is delineated. The Psalms state that God is gracious, full
of compassion, full of tender mercies and loving kindness, and that He is
always ready to forgive. The Psalms say
that the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon those who
fear Him. These attributes of God can
be found in the Divine Light of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His Light communicates His love and
compassion. And when He calls
believers the light of the world
it is that which is to shine forth from us – His love, mercy, and
compassion. That our good works which men
see should be works of love and caring and compassion toward our neighbor and
toward our brothers and sisters in Christ. Therefore, as we seek to meditate
on the truth of the Gospel, let us not forget the “simplicity that is in
Christ” as the Apostle Paul said. When
Jesus said we are the “light of the world,” it is the light of His love to
which He is referring. As the Apostle
|
John
wrote: “God is love.” The good works
we are to do before men are works of love and compassion. It is for this that witnesses will glorify
our Father which is in heaven. It is
this message of God’s love for mankind which has shown men and women to the
Cross of our Lord for over two thousand years. God’s love for us is limitless. He gave His Son to us that we might believe
in Him and be saved. Christ, our Good
Shepherd, went to the Cross for us that we might receive eternal life. Because of that, the Divine Light of God’s
love shines in the world. It is up to
us to communicate God’s love to a dying world, pointing people to the Cross
and introducing them to the Good Shepherd.
Christ will draw all men to Himself. All we need do is be faithful
disciples, faithful to the Gospel, and let our light so shine before men that
the world will see the “blessed hope” and understand the meaning of the
words: “God is Love.”
