1 Ἐξηρευξατο ἡ καρδία μου λόγον ἀγαθόν, λέγω ἐγὼ τὰ ἔργα μου τῷ βασιλεῖ.
2 γλῶσσά μου κάλαμος γραμματέως ὀξυγράφου· ὡραῖος κάλλει παρὰ τοὺς υἱοὺς τῶν ἀνθρώπων.
3 Ἐξεχύθη χάρις ἐν χείλεσί σου· διὰ τοῦτο εὐλόγησέ σε ὁ Θεὸς εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα.

1 Περίζωσαι τὴν ρομφαίαν σου ἐπὶ τὸν μηρόν σου, δυνατέ, τῇ ὡραιότητί σου καὶ τῷ κάλλει σου, καὶ ἔντεινον καὶ κατευοδοῦ καὶ βασίλευε.
2 Τὰ βέλη σου ἠκονημένα, δυνατέ—λαοὶ ὑποκάτω σου πεσοῦνται— ἐν καρδίᾳ τῶν ἐχθρῶν τοῦ βασιλέως.
3 Ράβδος εὐθύτητος ἡ ῥάβδος τῆς βασιλείας σου.

Ὅτε κατῆλθες πρὸς τὸν θάνατον, Ζωὴ ἀθάνατος, τότε τὸν Ἅδην ἐνέκρωσας τῇ ἀστραπῇ τῆς θεότητος, ὅτε δὲ καὶ τοὺς τεθνεῶτας ἐκ τῶν καταχθονίων ἀνέστησας, πᾶσαι αἱ Δυνάμεις τῶν ἐπουρανίων ἐκραύγαζον, Ζωοδότα Χριστὲ Θεὸς ἡμῶν δόξα σοι.

Come, let us worship and fall down before Christ. Save us, O Son of God, Who are risen from the dead; who sing to You. Alleluia.
APOLYTIKION resurrectional of the Tone of the day – Tone 2
When You descended to the realm of death You as life immortal, rendered to Hades a mortal blow by Your all radiant divinity.  And when You from infernal depths and the darkness below did raise the dead, all the hosts of heavens’ powers did proclaim and cry out: O life giving Christ and our God we give glory.                          (DLH, p. 81)

As a yardstick of faith and an icon of gentleness; as a teacher of temperance, your actual deeds have declared you as being among your flock.  In this manner you gained by humility, things most sublime, and through poverty earned true wealth.  Father and our hierarch St. Nicholas intercede with Christ our God that our souls may be saved.
KONTAKION of the feast of Hypapante – Tone 1
The womb of a virgin you did hallow at your birth, and as it befitted you blessed elder Symeon’s arms.  You also reached out and saved us all, O Christ our God.  Now, bring peace to our nation tangled in a war, and make firm our leaders whom you dearly love, for you are the only lover of man.

Righteous Simeon the God-Receiver, according to the testimony of St. Luke, was promised by God that he would not die until that time when Christ would be come into the world. Ancient historians relate that he was among the 72 scholars sent to Alexandria by the Sanhedrin for the translation of the Sacred Scriptures of the Old Testament into the Greek language. Righteous Simeon translated the Book of Isaiah, having read in the original the words: "Behold, a Virgin shalt conceive and give birth to a Son" (Is 7: 14). He decided, that the word "Virgin" was incorrectly used here in place of the word "Young Woman", and he wanted to correct the text. At that moment an Angel appeared to him and held back his hand saying: "Have faith in the words written down; thou thyself shalt be persuaded that they will be fulfilled, whereof thou shalt not taste of death until thou behold Christ the Lord, Who shall
be born of a Pure and Immaculate Virgin". One day, Righteous Simeon was come to the Jerusalem Temple. It was the fortieth after the Birth of Christ, when the All-Pure Virgin Mary and Her Betrothed Joseph had come there in order to perform the ritual set down by Jewish Law: to present before the Lord His Own Divine First-Born and to offer the established sacrifice. When righteous Simeon beheld their arrival, the Holy Spirit revealed to him that this was the Promised Messiah, and the elder pronounced his prophetic words: "Now lettest Thou Thy servant depart, O Lord, with peace according to Thy word…” Simeon died in extreme old age. In the 6th c., his holy relics were transferred to Constantinople. In the year 1200 his grave was seen by the Russian pilgrim Saint Antonii, future archbishop of Novgorod (1232, Comm. 8 October).
