APOLYTIKION resurrectional of the Tone of the
day – Tone 4
When the tidings of
the resurrection from the glorious angel was proclaimed unto the women
disciples, and our ancestral sentence also had been abolished, to the
Apostles with boasting did they proclaim that death is vanquished ever more
and Christ our God has risen from the dead, and granted to the world the great
mercy. (DLH,
p. 84)
EISODIKON –Tone 2
Come,
let us worship and fall down before Christ. Save us, O Son of God, Who are
risen from the dead; who sing to You. Alleluia.
APOLYTIKION resurrectional of the Tone of the
day – Tone 4

the resurrection from the glorious angel was proclaimed unto the women

p. 84)
APOLYTIKION
of St. John Climacus – Tone 8
With the rivers of your tears, you cultivated the
barrenness of the desert, and with your sighs deep from within, painstaking
labors produced their fruits hundredfold; and you became a star illuminating
the world with your miracles, O John our devout father. Do ever supplicate the Lord, entreating
that our souls be saved. (FSD)
APOLYTIKION
of our Church (Holy Trinity) – Tone 8
O Blessed are you, O Christ our God, who by
sending down the Holy Spirit upon them, made the fishermen wise and through
them illumined the world. And unto
you, the universe was ever drawn, all glory to you, O God. (DLH,
p. 115)
APOLYTIKION
of our Church (St. Nicholas)– Tone 4 (DLH,
p. 110)
As a yardstick of faith and an icon of
gentleness; as a teacher of temperance, your actual deeds have declared you
as being among your flock. In this
manner you gained by humility, things most sublime, and through poverty earned
true wealth. Father and our hierarch
St. Nicholas intercede with Christ our God that our souls may be saved.
KONTAKION – Tone 8
O Champion General, I your City now inscribe to you
Triumphant anthems as the tokens of my gratitude, Being rescued
from the terrors, O Theotokos.
Inasmuch as you have power unassailable, from all kinds of perils free
me so that unto you I may cry aloud: Rejoice, O unwedded Bride.
(FSD)

In
you, O lady full of grace, all creation rejoices, the orders of angels and

making your womb His throne, He made you more spacious than all the

all creation rejoices. Glory to you. (KL)

“Remembrance
of wrongs is the consummation of anger, the keeper of sins, hatred of
righteousness, ruin of virtues, poison of the soul, worm of the mind, shame
of prayer, stopping of supplication, estrangement of love, a nail stuck in
the soul, pleasureless feeling beloved in the sweetness of bitterness,
continuous sin, unsleeping transgression, hourly malice. This dark and
hateful passion, I mean remembrance of wrongs, is one of those that are
produced but have no offspring. That is why we do not intend to say much
about it. He who has put a stop to anger has also destroyed remembrance of
wrongs; because childbirth continues only while the father is alive.” [Step 9.2-4] “Let your prayer be
completely simple. For both the publican and the prodigal son were reconciled
to God by a single phrase.” [Step 28.5] “Do not say, after spending a long time in
prayer, that nothing has been gained; for you have already gained something.
And what higher good is there than to cling to the Lord |
and
persevere in unceasing union with Him?” [Step 28.29] “It is impossible, someone says, to
spend the present day devoutly unless we regard it as the last of our whole
life. And it is truly astonishing how even the pagans have said something of
the sort, since they define philosophy as meditation on death. This is the sixth
step. He who has mounted it will never sin again. Remember thy last end, and
thou shalt never sin (Wisdom of Sirach
7:36).” [Step 6.24] “He who wants to
overcome the spirit of slander, should not ascribe the blame to the person
who falls, but to the demon who suggests it. For no one really wants to sin
against God, even though we do all sin without being forced to do so.” [Step 10.5] “The first stage of
tranquility consists in silencing the lips when the heart is excited. The
second, in silencing the mind when the soul is still excited. The goal is a
perfect peacefulness even in the middle of the raging storm.”[Step 8.4]
