Ἀπολυτίκιον –  Ἦχος δʹ Ὁ Μάρτυς σου Κύριε, ἐν τῇ ἀθλήσει αὐτοῦ, τὸ στέφος ἐκοµίσατο τῆς ἀφθαρσίας, ἐκ σοῦ τοῦ Θεοῦ ἡµῶν· ἔχων γὰρ τὴν ἰσχύν σου, τοὺς τυράννους καθεῖλεν· ἔθραυσε καὶ δαιµόνων, τὰ ἀνίσχυρα θράση, αὐτοῦ ταῖς ἱκεσίαις Χριστέ, σῶσον τὰς ψυχὰς ἡµῶν. Ἀπολυτίκιον – Ἦχος δ' Κανόνα πίστεως καὶ εἰκόνα πραότητος, ἐγκρατείας Διδάσκαλον, ἀνέδειξέ σε τῇ ποίμνῃ σου, ἡ τῶν πραγμάτων ἀλήθεια· διὰ τοῦτο ἐκτήσω τῇ ταπεινώσει τὰ ὑψηλά, τῇ πτωχείᾳ τὰ πλούσια, Πάτερ Ἱεράρχα Νικόλαε· πρέσβευε Χριστῷ τῷ Θεῷ, σωθῆναι τὰς ψυχὰς ἡμῶν. Κοντάκιον – Ἦχος δʹ  Ἐπεφάνης σήµερον Ὡς ἀγκάλας σήµερον, πιστοί καρδίας, ἐφαπλοῦντες δέξασθε, καθαρωτάτῳ λογισµῷ, ἐπιδηµοῦντα τὸ Κύριον, προεορτίους αἰνέσεις προσᾴδοντες. Τρισάγιον. Since he possessed Your power, he defeated the tyrants, dashing the demons' powerless displays of defiance. O Christ God, at his fervent entreaties, save our souls. .                                                                                     (FSD) APOLYTIKION of our Church (Holy Trinity) – Tone 8 O Blessed are you, O Christ our God, who by sending down the Holy Spirit upon them, made the fishermen wise and through them illumined the world.  And unto you, the universe was ever drawn, all glory to you, O God.   (DLH, p. 115) APOLYTIKION of our Church (St. Nicholas) – Tone 4    (DLH, p. 110) As a yardstick of faith and an icon of gentleness; as a teacher of temperance, your actual deeds have declared you as being among your flock.  In this manner you gained by humility, things most sublime, and through poverty earned true wealth.  Father and our hierarch St. Nicholas intercede with Christ our God that our souls may be saved. KONTAKION of the forefeast of Hypapante – Tone 4 With our hearts instead of arms today, believers, with most pure and righteous thoughts let us receive in our embrace the Lord and Master who comes to us, and let us offer our fore-festal hymns of praise. Tryphon was a Christian martyr from Asia Minor, honored both by the Orthodox and the Catholic Church. In the Byzantine years the main centres of his cult were Asia Minor and Constantinople. Especially after 1204, when his relics seem to have been transported by the crusaders from Constantinople to Rome, his cult became widespread in Nicaea. The beginnings of the cult of the saint as the patron of cultivation, and particularly viniculture, probably date back to the 10th century. The basic source of the life and activity of St Tryphon is the Synaxarion of Constantinople, probably dating to the 11th century. Tryphon came from Lampsacus of Phrygia, lived in the years of Emperor	Gordian (first half of 3rd c.) and earned his living by breeding geese. He seems to have been able to heal all diseases and to cast out demons with the help of the Holy Spirit already from the early years of his life. Among those healed by him was the daughter of Emperor Gordian. In the years of Emperor Decius (249-251), Tryphon was taken to the Eastern prefect Acylinus accused of not regularly worshipping the statues of the gods. Thus, he was taken to Nicaea, the seat of the eparch, to defend himself. He confessed his Christian faith there. According to tradition, Tryphon was tortured in various ways before he was finally beheaded in 250.                    NIKOS KASTRINAKIS (2010)
