Ἀντίφωνον α´ – Ἦχος β´ 1 Ἐσημειώθη ἐφ' ἡμᾶς τό φῶς τοῦ προσώπου Σου, Κύριε. Ἔδωκας τοῖς φοβουμένοις Σε σημείωσιν τοῦ φυγεῖν ἀπό προσώπου τόξου. 2 Ἀνέβης εἰς ὕψος, ᾐχμαλώτευσας αἰχμαλωσίαν. 3 Ἔδωκας κληρονομίαν τοῖς φοβουμένοις τό ὄνομά Σου, Κύριε.     Ταῖς πρεσβείαις τῆς Θεοτόκου, Σῶτερ, σῶσον ἡμᾶς. Ἀντίφωνον β´ – Ἦχος ὁ αὐτός 1 Εἴδοσαν πάντα τά πέρατα τῆς γῆς τό σωτήριον τοῦ Θεοῦ ἡμῶν.  Προσκυνήσωμεν εἰς τόν τόπον, οὗ ἔστησαν οἱ πόδες Αὐτοῦ. 2 Ὁ δέ Θεός, βασιλεύς ἡμῶν, πρό αἰώνων εἰργάσατο σωτηρίαν ἐν μέσῳ τῆς γῆς. 3 Ὑψωθήσομαι ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν· ὑψωθήσομαι ἐν τῇ γῇ.     Σῶσον ἡμᾶς, Υἱὲ Θεοῦ, ὁ ἀναστὰς ἐκ νεκρῶν, ψάλλοντάς σοι· Ἀλληλούϊα. The Monk Martyr Nikon was born at Naples. His father was a pagan, and his mother a Christian. His mother secretly instructed him in the tenets of Christianity. He served as a soldier, and showed unusual courage and strength. St Nikon received baptism and monastic tonsure from Theodosius, Bishop of Cyzicus. Living in the cave church, St Nikon became an example for all the brethren. Bishop Theodosius died after he had entrusted his 190 monks to St Nikon. St Nikon sailed to Naples with the brethren.  Rumors of his arrival spread through the city, and ten soldiers, his former companions, came to see him. After conversing with the saint, they believed and were	baptized, and went with him to Sicily. There, St Nikon settled with the monks in a desolate area. Quintilian, the governor of Sicily, was informed that Nikon was living nearby with many monks. All 199 monks were seized and beheaded; St Nikon was left alive, tortured, and finally beheaded (†251). Nikon’s body was left out to be eaten by wild beasts. A certain shepherd, possessed by an evil spirit, found the body, and immediately the unclean spirit was vanquished and went out from him. The healed shepherd related this to the people.
