APOLYTIKION
resurrectional of the Tone of the day – Tone 3
Let all things above
in heav’n rejoice, and let all things below on earth be glad. With all the might and strength of His arm,
and eternal deed the Lord did perform, beneath His feet He has trampled down
death by death, and first born of the dead has He become. From the womb of Hades has He delivered us
and to all the world has granted His great redeeming mercy. (DLH, p. 83)
APOLYTIKION
of our Church (Holy Trinity) – Tone 8
O Blessed are you, O Christ our God, who by
sending down the Holy Spirit upon them, made the fishermen wise and through
them illumined the world. And unto
you, the universe was ever drawn, all glory to you, O God. (DLH, p. 115) APOLYTIKION of our
Church (St. Nicholas) – Tone 4
(DLH, p. 110)
As a yardstick of faith and an icon of
gentleness; as a teacher of temperance, your actual deeds have declared you
as being among your flock. In this
manner you gained by humility, things most sublime, and through poverty
earned true wealth. Father and our
hierarch St. Nicholas intercede with Christ our God that our souls may be
saved.
KONTAKION of Pascha – Tone 8
(FSD)
Though
You went down into the tomb, O Immortal One, yet you brought down the
dominion of Hades, and You rose as the victor, O Christ our God; and you
called out “Rejoice!” to the myrrhbearing women, and gave peace to Your
apostles, O Lord, who to the fallen grant resurrection.
Divine Liturgy
Hymnal, p. 26:

With one voice, O Virgin, we the believers call you blest. O rejoice, you the Lord’s gate, city
animate, rejoice. Lady, rejoice for
today the light of the resurrection from the dead of the Son whom you have
borne, has shone on us.

May
He Who is risen from the dead, Christ...

On
this day, the fourth Sunday of Pascha, we commemorate the Paralytic and, as is meet, we celebrate the miracle wrought
for him. This event is placed here, because Christ worked this miracle at the
time of the Hebrew Pentecost. For, having gone up to Jerusalem for the Feast,
He went to the pool with five porches, which Solomon had built and which was
called the Sheep’s Pool,
|
because
it was there that they used to wash the entrails of the sheep that had been
slaughtered in the Temple for sacrifice; the first person to enter it, when
the water was troubled by an Angel once a year, was made healthy. God
provided that miracles should be wrought in the Old Testament through water,
so that, when Baptism was bestowed, it might be accepted. Nikephoros Xanthopoulos, c. 1320
